David W. Wu is the membership chairman of ASQ Greater Memphis Section 1100.  He was the chair of the Memphis-Area Joint Engineers Council 2016-2017. David has more than 25 years of experience in engineering and quality, including 10+ years in medical device product design, development, and quality.  David is a senior member of ASQ. He is a CQE and CQA and has been a certified lead auditor since 1994. His heart is always on quality and doing his best to make our world a better place.  David is dedicated to the community, education, and volunteering. During his presentation David will explain what Kaizen is and will divulge some of his experiences as a Kaizen practitioner.

Akeara Johnson-Cobin is originally from Virginia, moved to California in 2014, and currently resides in Memphis, TN. Akeara obtained her BS in Biology from Virginia State University in 2007.  She is a highly motivated and experienced Quality Control Specialist with over seven (7) years of expertise.  Over her career, she has been involved in the development and validation of specialty assays, conducting internal audits, performing Quality Control for in-coming raw materials, and implementing Quality Control on assay performance.  She has worked extensively to improve product quality, develop new techniques for quality procedures, and train others on quality technique.  Additionally, she is a Kaizen facilitator and has led a team in the development of process improvement. Currently, Akeara is working toward getting an MBA in Healthcare Management and is studying for the ASQ CQA certification.

The Importance of Quality Testing - Incoming Raw Material

​Michael is a highly experienced Quality Control and Analytical Chemistry Manager with over 17 years of experience.  Over his career, he has been involved in a wide range of processes from specialty chemical, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical precursor manufacturing along with more specialized products.  He has worked extensively to improve product quality, develop new analytical techniques for new products, and research projects. He has successfully launched over 30+ new product lines.  Additionally, he has managed and led ISO and cGMP compliance including training, documentation and customer, regulatory, and third party audits to ensure product quality, safety, and efficacy. Currently, Michael is a PhD Candidate in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Memphis. He has certification and training in instrumentation use, repair and training, as well as ISO/cGMP compliance and holds a Masters’ in Analytical Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Murray State University.
